Retail Anywhere Certified ARTS® 4.01 Data Model Conformant
Data Model Conformance Confirms Lower Cost of Integration
Atascadero, CA., Jan.16, 2006 – Retail Anywhere, a leading developer of point of sale (POS) and enterprise management technologies, today announced that it has passed the conformance standards test of the ARTS (Association for Retail Technology Standards) 4.01 Data Model which is the model used in its Retail Anywhere POS and other in-store solutions. Stuart McGrigor, tester for ARTS, spent several days testing the application which conformed at 100% in the six business functions submitted.
A longtime ARTS member, Retail Anywhere had incorporated aspects of the ARTS model in the development of its legacy POS applications. However, its new generation of in-store solutions is based entirely on the ARTS 4.01 Data Model. This model grew from the input and experience of a broad spectrum of retailers worldwide, and represents the best practices in retail application functionality. The ultimate goal in creating and conforming to such a model is easier integration and reduced cost for retailers.
Richard Mader, executive director of ARTS states, “In reviewing the Retail Anywhere Data Model conformance test results, it was apparent to our auditors that the Model was used as the base for application design, not as an afterthought for marketing value. Retail Anywhere used all the required tables within the Model and added a few features that in the future may become part of the standard.” Mader also states, “Retail Anywhere, by developing a suite of applications on the Model, provides customers with the expertise of the hundreds of contributors to the Model.”
“Retail Anywhere selected the ARTS Data Model because we believe that setting and implementing standards throughout the retail industry will offer retailers flexible options while lowering the costs of integration. The model provides us with a solid foundation to build upon, and at the same time, allows us to focus on new technologies and state of the art solutions,” said Branden Jenkins, Retail Anywhere’s chief executive officer.
Retail Anywhere will be demonstrating its Point of Sale and other in-store applications at the NRF tradeshow in booth 1937 and the ARTS Pavilion booth 867.
